Black velvet

This dress was made for a dear friend who had her heart set on a particular dress from a catalog.  Unfortunately, the catalog sold out and was not to take orders again until after she needed the dress.  So, I made a replica of the dress for her. The main part of the dress is in crushed black velvet.  The inset portion of the bodice is a silver oriental brocade with black chiffon layered over it.  The bodice is trimmed with black lace, as are the handkerchief hemmed sleeves.   The skirt is also cut in the handkerchief style, with the points being mid-calf length. In a pattern size twelve, using similar fabrics:  $150
