Dragon Queen
I had been determined to make a dragon queen costume for a while.
Slowly, the ideas and pieces began to fall together, just in time for
Dragon*Con '06.

Bodice
The bodice fabric is rather unique, if I do say so myself.  I layered
black crystal organza over a red snakeskin print rayon.  Pictures
cannot truly catch how lovely it turned out.  It is lightly boned and
laces up in the back.

Skirt
The skirt is made in five layers of fabric which has been melted into
strips.  Polyester chiffon and satin has been used.

Wings
These were rather fun to make.  After creating the pattern, I used
snakeskin print pleather and the same rayon to line it.  Eyelets were
sewn into the top for lacing holes, and also along the back edges.
Organza ribbon loops over the arm to hold the wings to the arm as
they should be.  The back eyelets line up with the eyelets on the
bodice and are laced together.

Collar
The standing collar, which has been boned, uses the same black
pleather and red rayon layered under black crystal organza as the rest
of the dress.  Antique silver and black sheer trim edges the sides.  A
heavy chain weighs the front down to keep the collar standing.  Clay
pieces shaped to resemble talons or teeth are attached to the chain.
